7th Moscow Legal Week with the participation of the Sovereign Order of Cyprus and the Knights of Malta (KMFAP)
Sir Stephan Urs Breu and Sir Zoran R. Vitorovic – members of the Sovereign Order of Cyprus (Knights of Sword and Silence) participated the VII Moscow Legal Week, held between 27th November – 2nd December 2017 in Moscow, Russia.
Every year since 2011, the Lomonosov Moscow State University has been the major venue of the Moscow Law Week, an event timed to coincide with the Jurist Day (December 3).
Within the framework of the VII Moscow Legal Week, an international scientific and practical conference was held, which united the work of the XVIII International Scientific and Practical Conference of the Faculty of Law of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the XIII annual scientific-practical conference of the Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL). Alongside plenary sessions, the conference organized workshops and round-table discussions, all covering most topical issues of legal science.
The conference invariably sparks the interest of the professional community and brings together over 1,000 Russian and international jurists. The guests attending the conference are leading Russian and international scholars, senior officials and judges of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, courts of arbitration, officers of law, public officials and workers of self-governing bodies, etc.
Our knights, Sir Stephan and Sir Zoran presented scientific papers during the following programs:
First Round Table – held at the Lomonosov Moscow State University
- “Legislative regulations to prevent terrorism and organised crime from using cryptocurrencies and its effect on the economy and society” by Sir Stephan U. Breu -
“The global financial crisis and a lack of global finance regulations, the universal basic income as a future of stabilisation of global social and economic trends” by Sir Zoran R. Vitorovic
Second Round Table – held at the Department of Competition Law of MSAL
- “Block chains and cyber currencies challenging anti-trust and competition law” by Sir Stephan U. Breu
- “Antitrust policy in the context of ensuring strategic objectives of state and balance of interests” by Sir Zoran R. Vitorovic
Sir Stephan Urs Breu and Sir Zoran R. Vitorovic also participated at the 4th BRICS Legal Forum, which was hosted by the Association of Lawyers of Russia and took place from 30th November to 1st December 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Moscow Petrovsky Park hotel (Russia).
The Forum serves as an open, permanent platform for legal cooperation and professional exchange of experiment and ideas between lawyers of the BRICS countries, promotion of “legal diplomacy”, rapprochement of legal communities of the Member States, legal theory and practice exchange, use of law as an instrument for economic cooperation and social development of certain countries, strengthening the rule of law and improving of international law, working together to improve the status of lawyers, development of legal profession, establishing comprehensive cooperation with international legal institutions.
The main goals of the Forum are to promote legal assistance of economic cooperation, to implement major infrastructure projects as well as to develop international financial and legal institutions, to increase the independence of national economies from negative processes of the world market. In a same time, in Moscow our Knight, Sir Igor Khalevinsky was decorated with a Medal of Merit of Logos University International (USA).
